Our Forensic practice investigates problems in the built environment and provides evidence-based solutions founded on rigorous science and physics. We assist attorneys, property managers, building owners, contractors, manufacturers, and design professionals with a wide range of engineering and architectural issues.
The Role
We have an immediate opportunity for an Associate Engineer with interests in structural forensic investigation, litigation support, risk loss consulting, structural repair, and retrofit design. In this role you'll work on structural investigations of existing buildings and design remedial repairs for deficient conditions. The investigations include failure cause and origin analysis, life cycle cost and feasibility analyses, risk loss insurance, and claims response, and litigation support. You will be a guide for the junior-level staff, coordinate with project managers on interdisciplinary efforts, support marketing efforts, and develop and maintain client relationships.
Responsibilities
Assist with damage assessment and cause and origin investigations.
Prepare field notes, feasibility studies, cost analyses, and specifications.
Communicate with clients to understand project requirements.
Complete technical and investigative reports to support forensic findings and prepare materials related to presentations.
Manage and mentor other team members.
Perform peer reviews and condition assessments, including order of magnitude cost estimating.
Requirements
Degree (Master’s preferred) in structural engineering or a related field
Professional Engineer and/or SE License required.
Ability and willingness to travel within the US and internationally.
Experience in insurance work preferred.
Proficient in AutoCAD, experience with Revit a plus.
Compensation
The rate for this position generally is $120,000 - $135,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the Massachusetts Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and Equal Pay Transparency Rules. It is based on what a successful Massachusetts applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in Massachusetts or perform the position from Massachusetts. Similar positions located outside of Massachusetts will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by Massachusetts Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee’s pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.Benefits
