Scope of Work:
As a Land Survey Field Technician, you will support a field survey crew in conducting a variety of survey assignments, including boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, topographic and route surveys, utility location, and construction stakeout projects. This role involves hands-on fieldwork and the application of fundamental surveying principles using modern survey equipment and technology.
Job Responsibilities:
- Operates modern surveying instruments and equipment to perform a wide range of land surveying tasks.
- Communicate effectively with field personnel and office personnel to coordinate field activities and ensure project alignment.
- Maintains accurate and detailed field notes, records, and sketches to document all work performed.
- Works outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain.
- Performs physically demanding tasks, including lifting and carrying equipment, and standing or walking for extended periods.
- Maintains organized and legible field books with comprehensive notes and drawings.
- Perform basic survey computations and contribute to the preparation of survey deliverables
- Assist with clearing brush, setting stakes, holding rods, and maintaining field equipment
- Follows instructions and direction from the senior field personnel to support efficient and accurate survey operations.
Expectations:
- Survey Technicians are required to work outside in all types of weather conditions that include extreme heat in the summer and cold weather in the winter if conditions are not deemed hazardous to the employee.
- Candidates must have the ability to kneel, crouch, and bend throughout the duration of their shift.
- Candidates are expected to be able to walk 5-10 miles per day.
- Some projects will require the use of tools that weigh up to 20lbs.
- Driving is a requirement, and candidates will be required to have a valid driver's license.
- Candidate must demonstrate the ability to operate a vehicle in a safe manner and be capable of reading and using maps.
- Candidates may be required to drive long or short distances in various conditions daily.
