About the role

Overview

Join our growing payroll team as the ADP Workforce Now Senior Payroll Accountant.  This is a full time, salaried, hybrid-remote position. Working in-office 2 days per week at our Nashua, NH headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Process multi-company, weekly and bi-weekly, multi-state, US payroll consisting of 1,500 employees with heavy non-exempt workforce employees using ADP Workforce Now.
  • Audit all changes to employee records for accuracy; proactively troubleshoot discrepancies, collaborating with HR staff and applying a deep knowledge of payroll and tax regulations, best practices, and internal standards.
  • Enter pay data transactions; calculate and validate payroll adjustments (pro-rate, retro, timecard corrections, etc).
  • Process short term disability payments.
  • Independently identify and/resolve timekeeping and payroll issues, escalating to Payroll Manager and interacting with ADP support when appropriate.
  • Formulate and deliver a high volume of scheduled and ad-hoc reports using ADP Reporting’s advanced techniques and applying advanced Excel functions (VLOOKUP’s, Pivot Tables, logic formulas and other analytic tools); efficiently manipulate, analyze, and interpret diverse and complex data.
  • Administer payroll 401(k) functions: record and audit load and deferral changes; prepare, validate, and processes contribution files; perform periodic audits in collaboration with HR staff.
  • Manage the payroll general ledger/bi-weekly payroll journal entry and other payroll accounting processes with a strong understanding of GL accounting and internal standards. Maintain the integrity of GL assignments for labor allocation. Apply GL coding and analysis for invoices related to the payroll function. Prepare annual payroll reconciliation for year-end audit.
  • Collaborate with international payroll staff, and 3rd party firms to facilitate payroll funding; provide related reporting.
  • Provide technical assistance, training, and coaching to ADP Time and Attendance and WFN Self Service users.
  • Prepare and distribute off cycle manual checks.
  • Process wage garnishment orders using ADP Garnishment Service.
  • Process registrations for new tax jurisdictions through external vendor. Maintain/validate new and changed jurisdictions in WFN and ADP Smart Compliance
  • Process tax amendments and quarterly adjustments.
  • Support quarterly and year end audits and reconciliation.
  • Assist with internal and external audits (401K, Workman’s Comp, Year End…etc) by collecting and organizing documentation and reports.
  • Adapt processes to assist with special projects, acquisitions and other organizational changes.
  • Maintain financial security and mitigate risk by adhering to internal payroll & accounting controls.
  • Cross train with peers and engage in knowledge transfer.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.

Qualifications

We are seeking a motivated team player with a positive can-do attitude, strong work ethic, and high standards for accuracy and attention to detail. Integrity, professionalism, discretion, and empathetic customer support skills are essential. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the following skills and traits whether in their past or in the interview process:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 5+ years of multi-state (20-40 states) Payroll experience for a large organization (500+ employees)
  • 2+ years of experience with full cycle payroll process in ADP Workforce Now required, with ADP Time & Attendance, Essential Time preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment with a heavy non-exempt workforce is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency with ADP Reporting.
  • Payroll/general ledger reporting experience required.
  • Ability to multi-task and work with a high sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment under strict deadlines.
  • Excellent math and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting required
  • Advanced Knowledge of all aspects of payroll laws and regulations and federal and state regulations as they relate to payroll
  • High proficiency with MS Excel and other MS office programs. Advanced proficiency in Excel and proven experience with data analytics required (Pivot Tables, vLookups, SumIfs….etc.)
  • Adaptability and drive toward learning and continuous process improvement.
  • Self-directed and able to perform assignments independently; demonstrate proactive approach and is flexible with regards to change.
