The Coca-Cola Company is a networked global organization across more than 200 countries, combining the power of scale, with deep knowledge to win locally. The Senior Director, Retail Strategy – Large Store will build and execute a differentiated Large Store commercial plan focused on creating value with a holistic and consumer/shopper centric approach to growth.   They will create Large Store growth enablers with cross-functional subject matter experts (Retail teams, Brand, RGM, Category Leadership, etc.) all with the intent to drive balanced growth across Revenue, Profit, Volume, Transactions, and Share.

Key Responsibilities for this Role:  

  • Develop Multi-Year Channel Strategy and Plans

    • Synthesize and communicate impactful macro trends (Channel, Category, Brand, and Competitive) and System insights to influence long and short-term business plans designed to drive beverage incidence, trip conversion, and share.

    • Develop, socialize, and gain alignment of multi-year channel growth strategy.

  • Develop Annual Channel Imperatives to Achieve Growth

    • Develop and maintain monthly Look of Success direction by Points-of-Inspiration (POI), both in-store and online.

    • Support Large Store program and innovation launches with channel specific commercial strategy and execution guidance.

    • Collaborate with broader Commercial, Marketing, Customer and Franchise teams to develop scalable retail solutions and secure priority POI’s

    • Own commercialization and alignment of key channel strategy pillars through formal governance routines (CPSC, CCLT, etc)

    • Support key system planning meetings:  Ready to Sell and Ready to Execute

  • Lead Strategic Initiatives to Drive Channel Growth

  • Channel Subject matter expert for Retail Teams during key Customer meetings and conferences.

Organizational Impact:  

  • This role is an individual contributor role and acts as a recognized subject matter expert within and outside of the organization in Large Store channel strategy.

  • Communicates with executive leadership and influences across functions on matters of importance for the Large Store channel.

  • Acts as project lead for critical projects within the channel in partnership with Retail teams.

  • Serves as mentor and coach as needed for lower-level professionals.

Qualifications & Requirements:   

  • 8-10 yrs. experience, preferably in the consumer-packaged goods / beverages industry.

  • BA/BS, MBA or other advanced degree preferred.

  • Must be achievement oriented and possess the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Elevated EQ/Diplomacy, including ability to listen and empathize for effective collaboration and navigation across broad system stakeholders.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, effective time manager, and self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit.  

Functional Skills:

  • Effective at delivering data/fact-based, persuasive storytelling.

  • System Financial Awareness, including understanding of how company, bottlers and customers make money.

  • Experience in leveraging commercial levers (pricing, marketing, shelving, promotion, etc.) to drive a business plan.

  • Analytics & Insights:  Ability to gather, interpret and apply multiple consumer/industry insights and trends used in the development of channel strategies and programs.

  • Retail Industry: Knowledge of the retail industry (e.g., retailers, competitors, trends, visual merchandising, general business environment) related to multiple channels of distribution.

  • Marketing Concepts: Knowledge of and ability to apply basic marketing concepts (e.g., brand positioning, brand architecture, SWOT Analysis, competitive assessment, and consumer segmentation) to guide the development of Channel business plans.
