The HR Manager will provide support to assigned departments and centers in key HR areas, including employee relations, recruitment support, onboarding, and staff development. Reporting to the HR Director, this role will work collaboratively with managers and staff to ensure effective HR processes, provide consultation on complex HR matters, and foster a positive workplace culture.Job Description
Employee Relations & Staff Support
- Take the lead on addressing employee relations issues, including performance management, workplace concerns, and disciplinary matters.
- Provide consultation and advice to managers and staff on University HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Review exit interviews and share trends and insights with leadership.
Training & Development
- Design and deliver training programs for staff and supervisors, including compliance and professional development topics.
- Support managers in developing staff through coaching and performance planning.
HR Administration
- Maintain accurate employment records and documentation in HR systems (e.g., Workday).
- Ensure compliance with University policies and applicable laws.
- Provide assistance with benefits administration and leaves of absence as needed.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Collaborate with hiring managers to develop accurate job descriptions and equitable hiring practices.
- Support recruitment processes as needed, offering guidance on best practices and University systems.
- Facilitate onboarding for new hires, ensuring they have the tools and information needed to succeed.
