Global Payroll Specialist

Hudson River Trading (HRT) is looking for a Global Payroll Specialist to join our Finance team. You will join a lean but highly productive team to assist with various needs across the spectrum of payroll at HRT. We are looking for someone who brings a solid understanding of international payroll processing and top-notch excel skills. Given our current hybrid working environment, familiarity with global mobility rules and domestic payroll knowledge is a huge plus!

Responsibilities

• Process monthly and semi-monthly payroll for international employees over multiple countries 
• Communicate with international vendors, reconcile payroll reports, fund payroll accounts, and sign off on employee and tax payments
• Prepare monthly journal entries and coordinate with the accounting department on various payroll and benefit reconciliation items
• Oversee and reconcile quarterly and year-end annual statements, including state, federal, and international filings and Statements of Deposit
• Work with the People Operations team to onboard and offboard employees
• Reconcile employee benefits against vendor invoices and renewals
• Manage global year-end tax processes
• Partner with Tax and Accounting to ensure smooth end-to-end processes and to solve complex problems
• Assist with monthly balancing & reconciliation of payroll accounts
• Work directly with auditors on all payrolls
• Register for payroll in additional states and/or countries as needed
• Ensure that we are payroll compliant in all registered states and countries
• Take on ad-hoc projects and reporting as needed

• Comfortable working in a challenging, dynamic environment; intellectually curious and excited about learning new things
• Aptitude to learn and understand new software and applications 
• Ability to execute processes and tasks with little supervision

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 3+ years of experience in payroll
• Advanced excel skills; ability to use vlookup and macros
• Demonstrated proficiency in at least one payroll software; familiarity with Workday is highly preferred
• Excellent analytical and mathematical skills 

Annual base salary range of $80,000 to $120,000. Pay (base and bonus) may vary depending on job-related skills and experience. A sign-on and discretionary performance bonus may be provided as part of the total compensation package, in addition to company-paid medical and/or other benefits.
