About the Opportunity

Kelley Kronenberg is seeking a skilled and motivated Associate Attorney to join our Mortgage Foreclosure Litigation practice, with a primary focus on contested matters. This is a high-impact litigation role where you will independently manage cases from the initiation of contested issues through trial, working alongside a collaborative team in a firm that values sharp legal minds and client-centered advocacy.

If you thrive in a fast-paced litigation environment, possess deep knowledge of Florida foreclosure law, and are ready to bring your courtroom skills to a firm that actively supports your growth — we want to hear from you.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Draft substantive pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, and all necessary litigation documents with precision and legal rigor.
  • Conduct depositions and manage all discovery processes, including reading, analyzing, and reporting on discovery materials to clients.
  • Perform comprehensive legal research and analysis, applying current case law and Florida statutes to client matters.
  • Appear at depositions, hearings, trials, motion calendars, and conferences throughout the state of Florida.
  • Negotiate on behalf of clients at mediation and through settlement discussions, including consent judgment and short payoff scenarios.
  • Independently evaluate and communicate exposure, risk, and strategic recommendations to clients and internal teams.
  • Handle cases from inception of contested litigation through final judgment and trial, reviewing transfer dockets and strengthening case posture through ameliorative measures.
  • Collaborate with client witnesses and loan processors to identify and execute the most effective path to final judgment or resolution.
  • Maintain accurate and timely time records, achieving a target of 160 billable hours per month following the initial onboarding period.
  • Provide at least monthly file status updates for internal reporting and client communication requirements.
  • Engage in direct communication with opposing counsel, client representatives, and court staff via telephone and email.
  • Travel throughout Florida as needed to attend hearings, trials, and firm marketing functions.
  • Leverage available technology platforms to maximize efficiency across all file management and litigation tasks.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Active Florida Bar membership in good standing.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in mortgage foreclosure litigation, with substantial contested matter and trial experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft sophisticated legal documents including motions, briefs, and pleadings with clear, logical, and legally sound analysis.
  • Proven ability to conduct depositions and manage complex discovery processes independently.
  • Strong command of Florida foreclosure statutes, procedural rules, and applicable case law.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to present legal arguments persuasively in court and in client-facing interactions.
  • Capacity to manage a substantial caseload with minimal supervision, while knowing when to escalate novel or complex issues.
  • Availability for statewide travel as required by case assignments and firm needs.

Skills & Competencies

  • Clear, logical, and grammatically sound legal writing that integrates rigorous legal analysis.
  • Ability to synthesize factual records and discovery materials and apply them to controlling legal authority.
  • Confident and effective oral advocacy — able to present positions, defend arguments, and engage opposing counsel.
  • Strong organizational skills and disciplined self-management across a high-volume caseload.
  • Collaborative team orientation with the professional maturity to work independently on familiar matters and seek guidance on unfamiliar ones.
