Position Summary

Scientific Games is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Global Accounting Controller to lead our worldwide accounting operations and ensure the integrity and accuracy of our global financial records. Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, the Global Accounting Controller will be responsible for establishing and maintaining sound accounting policies and procedures, overseeing the global consolidation process, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, and driving efficiency across our international accounting functions. This critical leadership role requires a deep understanding of both U.S. GAAP and IFRS, strong technical accounting skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and the capacity to manage complex global accounting processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations across all global subsidiaries and shared service center ensuring consistent application of accounting policies and procedures and adherence to local regulations.
  • Oversee the monthly closing and reporting process in compliance with US GAAP while ensuring all required transactions are recorded in the monthly results and appropriately preparing financial statements for the Management Team, Banks et al.
  • Ensure accounting systems and processes for fiscal closing and reporting are continually streamlined via process improvement to achieve greater efficiency and accuracy in the level, and timeliness of reporting (continuous improvements).
  • Overall responsibility for timely completion companies quarterly, consolidation package, review, limited review, and audit processes for US GAAP and IFRS.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on complex accounting issues, providing guidance on the application of U.S. GAAP and IFRS, and staying abreast of changes in accounting standards.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain global accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency, efficiency, and compliance across all international operations.
  • Ensure compliance with both U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), as well as relevant local GAAP in international jurisdictions.
  • Design, implement, and maintain a robust system of internal controls over financial reporting across the global organization to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial information.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and standardize global accounting processes, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors regarding global accounting matters and the audit of international subsidiaries.
  • Collaborate with the tax department to ensure accurate accounting for income taxes (ASC 740) across all jurisdictions.
  • Participate in or lead the implementation and optimization of global accounting systems and tools to improve data integrity and reporting capabilities.
  • Support the preparation of global financial reports and analyses for management and other stakeholders.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and accountability.
  • Provide accounting expertise and support for international mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence and integration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or a related field with an Active CPA License, required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in corporate tax, with a mix of public accounting and industry experience preferred.
  • Deep and comprehensive knowledge of both U.S. GAAP and IFRS.
  • Proven ability and demonstrated history of providing strategic vision and direction to drive execution.
  • Proven experience in managing the global consolidation process for a complex, multi-entity organization.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and the ability to research and interpret complex accounting issues.
