There are many process synergies between our factories in Europe, and at the same time, there are quite some differences. With this project, we focus on the process similarities between our factories and how we are organized from a human resources point of view.

You will work on creating a production blueprint for our European Corrugated organization by mapping how we are resourced. With this mapping, you will also identify the different criteria used by our units, such as skill level requirements and the balance between flexible and permanent workforce. Your findings will provide valuable insights and input for improvement opportunities.

To achieve this, you will perform site visits to various locations. You will connect with selected sites to collect information and ensure a thorough understanding of the operational processes. Additionally, you will conduct interviews with selected managers to gather detailed insights. You will compare the level of automation in the production lines and, where necessary, perform more detailed analyses on factors such as the impact of the product mix.

We are offering this master thesis topic and after agreeing with your supervisor you will together plan and design all parts of the project so that it will suit you, Stora Enso and your school. In this project we would like you to work with a thesis partner for best possible results and support from us.

For this position, we see that you can plan your time and work both from home and at one of our offices, with additional visits to our factories. You will belong to the Packaging Solutions division. The project will be executed during the spring semester 2025, from January to June and therefor consists of 30 HP (Swedish college credits).

Who are we looking for?

We believe that you’re studying in the last year of your master’s program at a Swedish university within Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or Supply Chain Management. You are fluent in English.
