Part-Time Lecturer Pool - Comp Science & Software Engineering (AY 26/27)

The Computer Science and Software Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, is seeking part-time lecturer positions during the 2026-2027 academic year. Part-time appointments are made from a pool of accepted applicants, as determined by need, and contingent on funding. Responsibilities include teaching computer science, software engineering or computer engineering courses. Candidates with extensive industry experience are encouraged to apply.  

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department. Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:

Lecturer A: $5,507-$6,677
Lecturer B: $6,221-$13,224
Lecturer C: $6,825-$14,523
Lecturer D: $8,593-$15,211

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Computer Engineering, with multiple years of applicable industry experience, or M.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field. When M.S. is in a related field, B.S. must be in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Computer Engineering. Effective communication skills required. 

Demonstrated experience and commitment to student-centered learning and teaching, as well as the ability to collaboratively work in multidisciplinary settings is required. Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

University teaching experience.

Experience in working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.  Relevant work experience and those who bring professional capabilities.
