Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented SAP ABAP Development Lead to join our team in the Ft. Detrick, MD area.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical leadership to a team of SAP ABAP developers, guiding them in best practices, design principles, and coding standards

  • Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

  • Lead the design and development of complex custom programs, reports, enhancements, and interfaces using SAP ABAP

  • Collaborate with functional teams to understand medical logistics business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.

  • Define and enforce architectural standards for SAP ABAP development, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and alignment with organizational goals.

  • Contribute to the design of overall SAP system architecture.

  • Oversee the optimization of existing ABAP programs to enhance system performance and efficiency.

  • Conduct code reviews and implement best practices to ensure the development of high-quality and efficient code.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, SAP consultants, and business stakeholders to understand requirements, provide technical insights, and deliver effective solutions.

  • Communicate technical concepts and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with large scale agile approaches such as SAFe

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • 7+ years experience as a SAP ABAP Developer with a proven track record of leadership.

  • Strong understanding of SAP modules, business processes, and advanced ABAP programming concepts.

  • Excellent knowledge of SAP development tools, debugging techniques, and performance tuning.

  • Leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate, inspire, and lead a team effectively.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Experience with SAP Fiori, SAP HANA, or other advanced SAP technologies is highly desirable.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results in a dynamic environment

Clearance Requirements: 

Must be a U.S. Citizen; Can obtain a Public Trust clearance; and will be subject to a Tier 3 Investigation for DoD Common Access Card (CAC) eligibility only. Candidates who have recently completed T3 investigations are a plus.

Physical Requirements: 

The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
