Senior Manager, Logistics Purchasing

Based onsite at Rocket Lab’s headquarters in Long Beach, CA the Senior Manager, Logistics Purchasing will lead initiatives that optimize both global trade compliance strategies and logistics cost management. This role will be equally focused on developing forward-thinking trade strategies that influence procurement and sourcing decisions while also driving cost-saving initiatives across Rocket Lab’s global logistics network. You’ll collaborate with leaders across Supply Chain, Procurement, and Trade Compliance to ensure Rocket Lab navigates the complexities of global trade efficiently while keeping goods moving at optimal costs.

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:

Global Trade Strategy & Compliance Leadership

• Partner with the VP of Global Supply Chain to develop and execute a global tariff strategy that minimizes costs and enhances supply chain flexibility.
• Monitor and analyze global trade regulations, tariff changes, and geopolitical shifts to proactively adjust Rocket Lab’s trade strategies.
• Collaborate with Rocket Lab’s Director of Global Trade Compliance to serve as a strategic advisor to build and maintain a centralized database of sourced commodities, including classifications, duty rates, and licensing needs.
• Develop landed cost models and sourcing frameworks that guide direct procurement decisions, factoring in trade impacts, duties, and export licensing complexities.
• Lead initiatives to identify and execute logistics cost savings across Rocket Lab’s global supply chain, ensuring operational continuity and minimizing disruptions.
• Collaborate with Procurement and Supply Chain leadership to align sourcing strategies with global freight and logistics cost considerations.
• Drive continuous improvement in global freight operations, working to streamline processes, optimize carrier strategies, and reduce total landed logistics costs.
• Support Rocket Lab’s logistics procurement strategies by ensuring forward-looking trade insights are embedded into supplier selection and contract negotiations.

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:

• 12+ years of experience in international trade, logistics, or a related field, and a bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience (16+ years or total work experience).
• Strong knowledge of global trade regulations, customs procedures, and tariff classifications.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing trade compliance programs. Expertise with specific ITAR and EAR regulations a plus.

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:

• Master’s degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Professional certification in trade compliance (e.g., CUSECO, CCS, or similar).
• Experience with trade management software and ERP systems.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of aerospace industry trade regulations and requirements.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
• Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
• Must be physically able to commute to buildings.
• Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, and moderate levels of noise.

Level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
