This position would typically require 2 years of technical training and less than 1 year of
experience, or equivalent. With readily available technical guidance, keeps plant machinery and mechanical equipment in good repair.
Examines machines to diagnose trouble, dismantles machines, replaces defective parts, reassembles machines and makes necessary
adjustments to ensure efficient operation. At this level much of the time is spent assisting more experienced maintenance mechanics.
• Train/Pass/Demonstrate the following Requirements:
1. Electrical Training/Arc Flash, Confined Space, and Hot Work Training
2. Following diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications.
3. Microsoft excel/word to review equipment history and record repairs
4. Able to setup and repair mechanical drive systems (belts, chains, couplers)
5. Measure, cut, thread weld, and install pipelines
6. Welding- SMAW and GMAW
7. Basic Electrical skills using AC/DC voltage.
(1) Single and three phase systems
(2) Trouble shooting motor controls
8. Be proficient with plant repairs and trouble shooting to be “On Call” for after hour repairs
Can work under limited supervision and with minimal technical guidance, keeps plant machinery and
mechanical equipment in good repair. Examines machines to diagnose trouble, dismantles machines, replaces defective parts, reassembles machines and makes necessary adjustments to ensure efficient operation. Incumbents at this level perform intermediate troubleshooting, work with limited technical guidance and may provide work training to less experienced maintenance staff.
• Train/Pass/Demonstrate the following Requirements:
1. Electrical skills: competent with VFD’s, Micro controllers, and Automation.
(a) Troubleshooting and repair
2. Food Grade welding skills in TIG
(b) Pipe
(c) Structural
(d) Sheet metal
3. Working knowledge of production equipment, boilers, steam engineering, electrical, motors and computerized controls
4. Maintain and troubleshooting with packaging equipment including a Fanuc robot
Incumbents at this level perform advanced troubleshooting, work with general supervision and may
provide work training to less experienced maintenance staff.
(1) Advanced skills in mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, machining, welding and electrical.
(2) PLC troubleshooting and program modifications
(3) Operate and repair plant water treatment systems.
(4) Ability to trouble shoot and repair HMI panels
(5) Trouble shoot and repair issues with cleaning, dewatering and drying equipment.
