Compensation includes a base salary of $171,800.00 - $286,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Director Strategic Planning – Portfolio Management & Growth is responsible for corporate level strategy and development which includes CCI portfolio management and strategic planning. This strategic thought leader drives the end-to-end strategy for CCI in addition to strategic initiatives for all lines of business and functions that align to our overall strategy and long term ambition.  This leader will support the direction for where we play, how we win, and what we will do for growth within the CCI portfolio to achieve our ambition through collaboration with their team and executive leadership.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads and directs the team responsible for creating strategy that aligns with Cox’s goals and priorities and 10-year ambition
  • Provides leadership through the facilitation and creation of Cox's strategic plan for Cox Business and for the strategic planning process that occurs throughout the year.
  • Provides direction, data insights, and deep analysis on areas of interest, barriers, and opportunities; synthesizing information and research that connects to the overall strategies and priorities; helps drive the facilitation of discussions that influence and aid decision-making.
  • Collaborates with industry peers, partners, suppliers, and key organizations, etc. to understand, influence, and communicate trends and requirements in our products and services.  
  • Discovers and investigates emerging technologies and services for fit and value creation within the Cox portfolio.  
  • Influences the implementation of Cox's strategies on specific industry issues, policies, emerging technologies, platform and convergence decisions, intellectual property rights and special projects; engages with senior leaders to help drive decisions and change.
  • Leverages the use of data to conduct research, understand customers, and shape strategic thinking.             
  • Works closely with a cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, technology, engineering, marketing, operations, and others to communicate and drive agreement around and support for the strategy.
  

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum

  • BA/BS degree in a related discipline (i.e. marketing, business, management, economics, finance, etc.) with 12+ years of relevant experience with at least 7 years of experience in a leadership role; OR 16 years of equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
  • Strong financial acumen with demonstrated experience in the area and the ability to translate the numbers/financial story in a pragmatic way.
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
    • Subscription business models
    • Capital lite and capital-intensive businesses.
    • Broadband and/or wireless businesses
    • Small and medium sized business customers
  • Prior people management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of strategic planning and organizational development.
  • A track record of accomplishments delivering and supporting executive level initiatives.
  • The ability to think strategically and an ability to manage complex problems and initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to excel in a fast-paced, changing environment, and to quickly pivot to address changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated business acumen; strongly connected to and embedded in the businesses they support to ensure a deep understanding of what they do, their importance to the business, their internal and external risks, and opportunities, and their short- and long-term impact.
  • Experience with strategic planning and development processes, frameworks, and tools.
  • Can synthesize and simplify detailed and sometimes ambiguous inputs from a variety of sources.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation skills, and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to collaborate across organizations.
  • Strong storytelling abilities through presentations and other graphics; highly creative and able to convey complex situations clearly and succinctly.<
