Kamehameha Schools is seeking a Unit Coordinator for its Program Office for the summer. This position will coordinate and oversee daily summer school operations for afternoon courses with the Program Office, including but not limited to tracking attendance, calling parents, behavior referrals, supervising instructors (including observations and coaching) and support staff and overseeing procedures and schedules for the transition of students between morning and afternoon programs. This is a temporary, seasonal position based on operational need that will be paid $13,536. Please note this amount may be updated for 2025 rates.

  

Hire Dates: 6/4 - 7/11 (may require some training prior to hire dates) 

Tentative Schedule: M-F, 11:00am - 5:00pm

Job Summary

Responsible for coordinating and overseeing summer school operations to include assisting the leadership team in screening, interviewing and recommending applicants for vacant teaching, clerical, support staff, and other positions. Assists leadership team in planning Professional Development and Staff Orientation days. Responsible for curriculum development in alignment with program, campus and strategic initiatives.  Supervises assistant unit coordinator, academy coordinators, teachers, clerks, and support staff; recommends disciplinary action for students; ensures proper maintenance of student records; monitors the approved budget.  Oversees procedures and schedules for monitoring parent and bus drop-off/pick-up; ensures books and supplies are ordered. Approves field trip requests and schedule. Observes, evaluates, supports, and coaches teachers. Writes and compiles weekly and final reports for program leadership. Gives instructions to teachers for checkout on final day and oversees completion of responsibilities, including return of keys and supplies. Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor. Attends leadership team meetings from January through July and professional development days.

Essential Responsibilities

Coordinates and oversees daily summer school operations for assigned grades.

  • Oversees the management of the unit to include but not limited to providing a safe learning environment for all students, teachers and staff; student discipline; adherence to policies and procedures set by the Summer School program and the KS organization.
  • Monitors the approved unit budget, ensures books and supplies are ordered and approves field trip requests and schedules.
  • Assists the leadership team in screening, interviewing and recommending applicants for vacant teaching, clerical, support staff, and other positions.
  • Recommends/determines disciplinary action for students. Maintains proper student records.
  • Coordinates and instructs end of summer check out and oversees completion of responsibilities including but not limited to returning of keys and supplies, course revisions, next summer supply order, computer request and field trip request.
  • Prepares incumbent list of support staff, teachers, student aides, librarian, educational assistants, etc. for the next summer. 
  • Meets with and informs teachers/staff that are not recommended to return.

Curriculum and Teacher Development
