JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health, in Hershey, PA is seeking applicants for an Assistant Professor. The Bunce Behavioral Neuroscience Lab focuses on the use of neuro- and psychophysiological measures of human behavioral, emotional and motivational function, as well as the use of novel medications in the treatment of substance use disorder, anorexia, psychological trauma, and sleep disorders. Both fNIR and fMRI neuroimaging techniques play a central role in the laboratory’s research. A PhD in neuroscience, psychology, or a related area is a requirement for this position. The successful candidate will have prior experience conducting human research, and, in particular, clinical trials. Preference will be given to candidates with an established record of productivity in the form of publications in high quality peer-reviewed journals. A successful history of writing/obtaining external funding is highly desirable, as is experience running preclinical models in substance use disorder.  The successful candidate will be involved in the coordination and conduct of a large, multisite, clinical trial evaluating the use of a new medication in opioid use disorder. The candidate will also generate and submit novel clinical and/or preclinical grants for support of future projects in the lab. The successful candidate must be motivated, independent and highly organized, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Technological savvy, comfort with computers and end-user software, and a willingness to learn are critical skills for this position. Knowledge of structural clinical interviews, SPSS, Matlab, and REDCap knowledge/experience are preferred.  The ability to work well with a large team of individuals is a critical skill for this position.

Duties include: recruiting and scheduling participants for visits; conducting participant interviews, including semi-structured clinical interviews; maintaining participant databases, ordering/organizing lab materials; conducting data collection, monitoring incoming data for accuracy; maintaining protocol integrity; monitoring safety and confidentiality of project and participants; assisting PI with Institutional Review Board requirements; coding, scoring, and reconciling observational data as per Pl guidelines; maintenance of lab equipment; purchasing, and reconciliation of P-card charges.
