Position Description:
The Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) team is a high performing group executing challenging tasks to design, integrate and evaluate GN&C systems for NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS). We are searching for highly qualified candidates to support NASA’s Navigation Team in the Guidance, Navigation, & Mission Analysis branch at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). This exciting work will serve as a critical step in sending humans back to the Moon, Mars and beyond!
Job Functions:
- Create analysis and test plans to assess navigation filter performance.
- Correlate HWIL test data to 6 DOF simulation model predictions.
- Build standalone analysis tools to evaluate Block 1B’s navigation system performance.
- Design and execute captive-carry testing (van or aircraft) for integrated GPS + INS performance.
- Validate navigation sensor model performance with hardware derived data.
- Develop pre-flight test procedures to confirm navigation system readiness for flight.
- Develop post-flight analysis tools including best estimated trajectory and flight path reconstruction.
Day to day activities include:
- Creating, editing and debugging software written in C, Python, MATLAB, and C++.
- Optimization and improvement of analysis tools and GN&C models.
- Working with GN&C leads and other engineering disciplines.
- Provide mentorship to mid and early career teammates.
- Supporting the verification and validation of technical products.
- Creation and review of engineering and software documentation.
- Preparing and Presenting technical reports and briefings.
Here's What You'll Need:
A degree from an ABET-accredited university in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D., with a minimum 24 years of experience, Masters with at least 28 years of experience, or BS with at least 30 years of experience.
