Jr. Data Engineer

Yum Brands, Inc is seeking a motivated and talented Junior Data Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for recent graduates or individuals with 1-2 years of experience in data engineering. We’re in search of a candidate who knows about and loves working with modern data integration frameworks, big data and cloud technologies. Candidates must also be proficient with data programming languages (e.g., Python and SQL). The Yum! data engineer will build a variety of data pipelines and models to support CDP, analytics projects and enable marketing use cases - with the intent of elevating the customer experience and driving revenue and profit growth in our restaurants in US.

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.

• Develop, maintain, and optimize data pipelines to ensure efficient data flow and processing.

• Work on cloud-based data solutions, including data storage, processing, and analytics.

• Implement and manage ETL processes to integrate data from various sources.

• Support the development and maintenance of the customer domain platform.

• Assist in the creation of data models and schemas to support analytics and reporting.

• Ensure data quality and integrity through rigorous testing and validation.

• Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering and cloud solutions.

• Interface with other Yum platform engineers to ensure data quality and standardization of processes across various Yum cloud environments.

• Implement and manage production support processes around data ingestion, transformation, data quality, data lifecycle, coding utilities, storage, reporting and other data integration points.

• Maintain system performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems; calculating optimum values for parameters; evaluating, integrating and installing new releases; performing routine maintenance; and answering user questions.

 

 

Skills and Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)

· 0–2 years of experience in data engineering or a closely related role

· Proficiency in Python and SQL (experience with Snowflake is a plus)

· Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (AWS preferred)

· Familiarity with modern data engineering tools and frameworks (e.g., Airflow, dbt)

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail

· Effective communicator and collaborative team player

· Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications:

· Experience with data visualization tools such as Domo, Tableau, or Power BI

· Familiarity with marketing data and analytics concepts

· Experience with Snowflake and customer data platforms (nice to have)

 

Salary Range: $69,800 - $82,100 + eligible bonus
