Pratt & Whitney's Mechanical Systems, Externals, and Nacelles (MSEN) organization is looking for a Senior Structures Engineer to perform structural analysis, on military engine programs, to demonstrate durability and structural integrity of Mechanical Systems, Externals, Nacelle components.
What You Will Do:
- Perform structural analysis in support of Oklahoma City engine Major Repair and Overhaul (MRO) activities. Hardware to be analyzed includes bearing compartments, gearboxes, lube pumps, oil tanks, tubes, mount brackets, and ducts.
- Significant portion of daily activities will include using finite element analysis and classical methods to evaluate residual fatigue life, and damage tolerance. Incidental damages and normal wear.
- Participate as the structure’s representative on multi-discipline teams to provide solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost, and weight, Document analysis results and present conclusions to PW management and external customers.
- Work to advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods.
- Travel less than 10%.
What You Will Learn:
- Required overall design and analysis process of parts for engines including new and existing designs.
- Apply sophisticated solid modeling and analysis tools in a highly proficient manner.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or other related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR Master of Science (MS) in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or other related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with 3 years of related engineering experience.
- U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Masters of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Experience in structural integrity related analysis and risk assessment techniques for gas turbine engines.
- Working knowledge of gas turbine hardware structural analysis techniques using Ansys Classic and Ansys Workbench.
- Excellent communication & collaboration skills and the ability to function across a wide range of disciplines and management levels.
- Strong communication, presentation, teaming, and collaboration skills.
