Position: Staff Accountant
Location: Norwood, MA
Job Summary: The Staff Accountant will support and report to the Accounting Manager in our Norwood location. Primary responsibilities will be general accounting entries including cash, prepaids, accruals, payroll and internal allocations. This role will provide the candidate with exposure to varying facets of the accounting function which includes supporting the month end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger work for multiple US entities. In this exciting role, the individual will have exposure and visibility to financial reporting and analysis. This role will actively participate in internal and external audits as well as internal compliance needs, and other special projects as assigned. This is an entry-level role with an opportunity to grow and develop within the finance organization of our global company. The ideal candidate will possess a desire to learn.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly journal entries for various balance sheet accounts including Payroll, Cash, Accruals and Prepaids
- Prepare supporting documentation behind monthly journal entries
- Prepare account reconciliations and research and reconcile discrepancies
- Participate in the month-end close process, financial statement preparation, and internal and external reporting
- Assist with quarterly reviews and annual audits
- Liaise with cross-functional teams for execution of company goals and processes
- Ability to perform ad hoc projects as assigned
- Participation with internal audit Sarbanes Oxley compliance
- Aid Accounting department team members as time permits
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required
- 2-4 years of Accounting or related experience required
- Strong organizational and computer skills, proficiency in Excel required
- Knowledge of GAAP, practices, and standards
- Enthusiastic individual driven to continuously strive for excellence
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment (in person and virtual)
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet established deadlines
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
- Oracle experience a plus
