AOT Senior Manager I - Construction Engineer

Overview

The Agency of Transportation (AOT)  has an exciting opportunity for an independent-thinking, problem-solving leader in the Construction Section. This position will lead initiatives that may include e-construction, continual process improvement, staff development, and empowerment, while efficiently administering the Regional construction program.

 

As the Northwest Regional Construction Engineer, you will be directly responsible for ensuring that all contracts assigned to the region are administered per the contract documents. The successful candidate will spend a significant amount of time on construction projects supporting staff and developing employee skills as well as implementing actions that can be measured to objectively record the quality of the work and the performance of the staff. Experience as a professional engineer and at a senior manager level is preferred. The workstation for this position is Berlin Vermont but much of the work will occur out of the Northwest Vermont Regional office. Familiarity with The State of Vermont Standard Specifications for Construction, and FHWA requirements for Highway Construction on Federal Aid projects will be key to the success of the right candidate.

The candidate must be able to sit for the PE exam within one (1) year.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed in offices, and in the field. Incumbents should possess private means of transportation. Attendance at public meetings and hearings is required. Evening or weekend work will be required. A variety of strong adversarial opinions may be encountered.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate Degree AND eight (8) years or more of management experience in one or more the following areas (a) development of program rules and policies; (b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans: (c) program evaluation; or (d) budget preparation OR highway maintenance, engineering, construction, planning or a combination thereof.

OR

High school diploma or equivalent AND ten (10) years or more of management experience in one or more the following areas (a) development of program rules and policies; (b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans: (c) program evaluation; and (d) budget preparation OR highway maintenance, engineering, construction, planning.

 

Note: Some positions may require registration as a Professional Engineer (PE)
