Description

Job Summary: Establishes and promotes the maintenance of a safe, secure environment for the students and staff through implementing a comprehensive safety plan following Job Corps regulations, OSHA Standards and company policies.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Must create and sustain positive working relationships with co-workers. 
  • Adheres to all PRH and CSDC policies and procedures, and the Center Operating Procedures.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains Center Safety Plans consistent with applicable statutes and Center policies to always ensure the safety of students and staff.
  • Develops, and provides training to staff in all fire and safety aspects, including Blood Borne Pathogens at all Center locations.
  • Conducts daily, weekly and monthly inspections of Center facilities and equipment as required and maintains documentation of inspections.
  • Facilitates the Center’s Monthly Safety Committee meeting and provides required training to participants.
  • Conducts analysis of student & staff injuries and near misses to identify trends and develop corrective action.
  • Complete all required PRH training (Exhibit 5-4) within he specified timeframes. 
  • Assists in developing/updating Center Safety and Security Plans and SOP’s.
  • Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with local law enforcement and Emergency Management Services that serve the Center. 
  • Assists in the coordination of required Emergency Drills on the site (tabletop and physical), such as Active Shooter. 
  • Attends & participates in the monthly CSD Safety Meeting.
  • Coordinates required quarterly Environmental Inspections of facilities with 3rd party providers.
  • Performs fire, work area, and safety inspections in accordance with regulations. Write corrective action plans as necessary.
  • Conducts and documents investigations on all Center accidents or safety related complaints. Prepares all necessary reports involving student accidents.
  • Prepares reports and maintains files on all DOL, OSHA, FDA, EPA and other federal agency required reports related to safety. Ensures the Center compliance with OSHA and other health and safety regulations.
  • Designs and implements orientation programs for all new staff and students on safety matters. Provides training for Center staff and students to ensure that safety and security policies and practices are understood.
  • Enforces all authorized laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Transports students in company vehicle. 
  • Patrols assigned areas and remains alert for disturbances, fires, safety hazards, traffic violators, suspicious acts and/or persons, and other unusual conditions.
  • Aids and assists visitors, students, and staff.
  • Maintains Student Accountability logs for students entering / exiting the center
  • Performs building security and safety checks.
  • Conducts approved searches and Safety & Health inspections of visitors, staff and students as necessary.
  • Receives complaints and makes appropriate preliminary investigations.
  • Provides escort service as directed.
  • Investigates vehicular accidents at center.
  • Issues visitor passes and temporary vehicle permits.
  • Participates in the disciplinary process as established at the center, including zero tolerance for violence and drugs.
  • Attend training as required.
  • May provide temporary coverage in student occupied areas such as the dormitories and recreation areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. 1-year broad-based civilian, military security or fire prevention and safety experience. Valid State Driver’s License.

Preferred: Extensive experience and able to perform the essential job functions of this position, candidate must have regular attendance.  

Knowledge: Knowledge of standard security, fire prevention and safety procedures and OSHA requirements. Must possess a valid State driver’s license. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Familiarity with the problems of underprivileged, minority groups, especially youth. Must obtain and maintain CPR/FA Certification.
