Department Overview

The Controllership Department oversees the consolidated accounting and financial planning and reporting functions of the organization. The team oversees accounting functions such as ledger accounts, financial statements and cost control systems with a focus on regulatory compliance and practices.

Reflecting our corporate values, the accounting and finance team is full of professionals that are bold, inspired and real!  Every day is a new challenge, and if you join this team, you will continually be looking for ways to help us get better at what we do in the most efficient way possible.  We are actively seeking a Sr. Manager of Corporate Accounting to join our rapidly growing team where you will be challenged to partner with business leaders in the design, implementation and management of accounting best practices as well as finding efficiencies through centralization and automation.

You Will:

• Manage the month-end close including the closing calendar and timeline for parent and subsidiaries in conjunction with the Financial Reporting team to meet reporting timelines.
• Assist the Director of Financial Reporting with evaluating various business initiatives and operationalizing such initiatives in accordance with our accounting policies and US generally accepted accounting principles.
• Co-lead presentation of monthly P&L results to the Controller at month-end
• Manage a team of at least three team members and provide leadership guidance, mentoring and oversight.
• Partner with FP&A to help analyze and document balance sheet and income statement activity and variances.
• Perform a detailed review of Benson Hill financial reporting including Balance Sheet and Income Statement variance analysis
• Support Financial Statement preparation including footnotes.
• Review work and analysis performed by staff on both transactions and reconciliations.
• Assure timely and accurate reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
• Assure new fixed assets or intangible assets are designated proper terms pursuant to our accounting policies.
• Review of all existing and new lease agreements for proper implementation of new leasing standards
• Assist with investment and cash accounting, including derivatives, mark to market entries and cash reconciliation.
• Review of valuations by a third-party in support of warrants, options and other stock-related items
