About the role

In order to participate in Berklee Student Employment, a student must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.

  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).

  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.

  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.

  • Federal Work Study student may apply.

  • In good disciplinary standing.

  • Must be located in the U.S.

The Mental, Invisible, and Neurodivergence-based Disabilities (MIND) program at Berklee, part of Accessibility Resources for Students (ARS), is dedicated to supporting and celebrating neurodivergent students. MIND strives to create an inclusive community by fostering connection, belonging, and education around neurodiversity within the Berklee community. Through engaging social events, specialized programming, one-on-one coaching, faculty and staff training, and the Boston pre-orientation program, MIND works to amplify neurodivergent culture and identity, ensuring that every student’s unique strengths are embraced and valued.
The MIND Program Assistant will report to the Neurodiversity Program Manager. The Assistant must maintain a caring, service-oriented attitude with respect to college, conservatory, and program objectives. This attitude is represented in a willingness to attend all program training sessions and serve in capacities deemed appropriate by the Manager.

MIND Program Assistant Overview 

MIND Program Assistant is a student who is committed to helping and supporting neurodivergent students. Assistants are leaders that maintain a strong and consistent commitment with: 

  • Supporting community events and pre-orientation 

  • Partake in training opportunities 

  • Help with planning for pre-orientation, events and any other additional support relating to MIND. 

  • Supporting neurodivergent students with diverse needs 

General Responsibilities 

MIND Student Ambassadors are expected to conduct themselves as campus leaders, exhibiting the behavior expected of a campus representative, including: 

Orientation for MIND Students: 

  • Attend the MIND pre-orientation program in August for entering students. 

  • Assist the Neurodiversity Program Manager in pre-orientation event setup, welcome sessions, and social events. 

  • Guide students and families through the pre-orientation schedule. 

  • Participate in MIND orientation events including the MIND social and schedule tour.

  • Assist in pre-orientation planning 

Semesterly Events: 

  • Attend at least one MIND Tabling event 

  • Assist the Neurodiversity Program Manager with all aspects of event set-ups, including event coordination before, during, and after facility set-up and clean-up, student welcome and check-in, and event AV and stage support duties as assigned. 

  • Monitor the event and its attendees at all times so they can promptly assist if/when needed.

  • Participate in MIND specialized events including, but not limited to the Empowerment Showcase, National Disability Employment Month, Neurodiversity Celebration Week, and Autism Acceptance Month. 

Other Responsibilities: 

  • Complies with FERPA regulations. 

  • Participate in one mandatory in-person training session with Accessibility Resources for Students per semester. 

  • Represent Berklee and the MIND program in a positive manner on/off campus.
