Assistant/Associate Professor (Clinical or Tenure Track) - School of Nursing Winter 2025 (Hybrid)

Description

The University of Michigan – Flint School of Nursing seeks a clinical or tenure-track (assistant or associate) professor with expertise in informatics and heathcare/communication technologies, to teach Nursing Informatics concepts in an online or face-to-face in our nursing programs. This is a full-time clinical or tenure track position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor in the School of Nursing. 

Responsibilities of the faculty position include ensuring achievement of required competencies by the learner through planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating instructional activities in the nursing program, in accordance with the philosophy and academic standards of the University of Michigan-Flint.  This position's (clinical or tenure-track) salary and rank are commensurate with credentials, scholarship and experience. Proposed start date is January 2, 2025.

Primary responsibilities upon hire include teaching Nursing Informatics and related courses in the undergraduate program. Involvement in scholarly and professional activities along with participation in university service are also requirements. 

Other responsibilities include:
Provide leadership and oversight on Domain 8: Informatics and Healthcare Technologies of the Essentials of Nursing; core competencies for professional nursing education (AACN 2021); Provide input and leadership for the certificate in Nursing and Healthcare Informatics offered to the undergraduate students; Instruct and facilitate meaningful learning of the course competencies in the curriculum and proactively support all facets of the campus and learning environment for an exceptional student experience; Provide career education through student-centered instruction that will enable graduates to fulfill the evolving needs for patient-centered healthcare delivery; Maintain scholarship according to the School of Nursing scholarship expectations of clinical and tenure-track faculty. This position also includes additional responsibilities such as participating in curriculum and course development, participating on various academic committees and special projects as assigned. Instructional opportunities may vary across undergraduate and graduate programs. 

For the Rank of Assistant/Associate Professor (Clinical or Tenure-Track): Teaching effectiveness, a program of scholarship, and commitment to service (school, university, profession, community) are expectations of this rank.   Scholarship contribution is dependent upon tenure vs. clinical track.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Earned doctorate in nursing (or related field) (If the doctorate is not a DNP or PhD in Nursing, must
• have a MSN;. If the doctorate was earned via a BSN to doctorate, the doctorate must be in nursing
• (DNP or PhD) Formal preparation in Informatics and Healthcare Technologies and associated scholarship are required aprogram
• Demonstrated Informatics competencies such as data analysis, clinical outcomes, data exploration
• or use of e-health resources.
• Experience teaching in a baccalaureate and/or higher degree program.
• 2-3 years of experience working in a healthcare setting and applying the integral concepts of
• Informatics and/or teaching Nursing Informatics.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students
• Online teaching experience
• Commitment to scholarship with a delineated program of scholarship and scholarly productivity
