Senior Database Developer

Job Description:

Position Description: 

Supports all reporting platforms using Tableau, Power BI, and OBIEE. Performs Proof of Concept (POC) for new tools in the semantic and reporting layers. Deploys reports, dashboards, and changes to semantic layer using data analytics, data visualization, and business intelligence tools. Constructs SQLs against Snowflake and Oracle databases in a scaled Agile environment.  

Primary Responsibilities: 

• Creates complex dashboards and reports. 

• Maintains connections to data and semantic layers. 

• Deploys reports and dashboards to production. 

• Creates and maintains connections to the data layer. 

• Performs regression testing for server upgrades and patches. 

• Partners closely with a diverse set of business collaborators to deliver reporting solutions. 

• Confers with data processing or project managers to obtain information on limitations or capabilities for data processing projects and determines system performance standards. 

• Develops complex data integration reporting solutions resulting in advanced analytic capabilities. 

Education and Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Applied Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Senior Database Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and implementing Business Intelligence (BI) and data lineage solutions in a financial services environment.  

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Applied Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience as a Senior Database Developer (or closely related occupation) designing, developing, and implementing Business Intelligence (BI) and data lineage solutions in a financial services environment. 

Skills and Knowledge: 

Candidate must also possess: 

• Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) administering and coordinating Business Intelligence (BI) solutions using Analytic Tools (SAP Business Objects, Oracle Advanced Services (OAS, formerly OBIEE), Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, Report Builder, SAP BW, and SAP BO) in a financial services environment; performing security implementations by installing and optimizing configurations for BI servers, components, and processes using BI access roles, groups, and permissions; and migrating BI content to Snowflake Cloud data warehouses in a financial services environment.   

• DE evaluating Cloud offerings for BI tools, and migrating BI platforms to public Cloud and Amazon Web Services platform using AWS EC2, S3, IAM, GitHub, and Jenkins pipelines.  

• DE conducting data analysis, data exploration, and data lineage of financial data on Oracle, Snowflake, IBM DB2, AtScale (Universal semantic layer), SAP BW, and Tableau metadata; and creating projects stories, epics, backlogs, and references using enterprise tools (JIRA and Confluence) to execute project deliverables.  

• DE writing SQL queries and scripts to extract data from large data sets within RDBMS Oracle and IBM DB2; writing stored procedures to insert and maintain data using SQL queries; and performing data transformations, and developing
