Senior Associate Research Scientist
Bayer U.S. LLC’s Cambridge, MA, office seeks a Senior Associate Research Scientist to provide scientific expertise for oncology research to expand and develop the research portfolio and determine innovative drug candidates. Duties include: (i) developing new research strategies and approaches in oncology; (ii) establishing and maintaining state-of-the-art in vitro and in vivo pharmacology platforms; (iii) supporting and potentially lead international, cross-disciplinary teams to support early and late development activities; (iv) integrating external innovation through alliances, collaborations, and licensing activities; (v) planning, conducting, and analyzing in vitro and in vivo studies; (vi) managing labs with regard to ordering consumables, setup and maintenance of research equipment; and (vii) ensuring compliance with guidelines regarding lab safety (e.g. biosafety) and animal welfare.
Must have a bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in Pharmacology, Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or Pharmacy plus six (6) years of post-baccalaureate and progressively responsible experience in a related research position in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
Must also have any experience with or knowledge of: (i) oncology disease biology; (ii) in vitro laboratory techniques (including, but not limited to, mammalian cell culture and preparation of tumor cells for implantation, ELISA, Western Blot, CTG, qPCR, IncuCyte); (iii) assay development with direct experience with design, development and optimization of assay to support in-house drug screening campaign; (iv) multiple methods of genetic perturbation (e.g., siRNA, shRNA, overexpression and inducible system, CRISPR); (v) xenograft studies including establishment of orthotopic and transgenic mouse models, implantation of tumor and/or immune cells, administering treatment to rodents (PO, IV, IP dosing), preparation and formulation of compounds for dosing, tumor measurement, collection of blood and tissues for PK/PD, efficacy and biomarker studies; (vi) data analytical skills using Prism Graph Pad or other software; (vii) evaluation of therapeutic candidates with in vivo and in vitro techniques; and (viii) small molecules inhibitors, including but not limited to sorafenib, regorafenib, copanlisib, PI3K and MEK inhibitors.
