About This Role

The Senior Manager, Medical Strategy & Operational Excellence, Global Medical Rare Disease, will support the strategic plan and related initiatives for the Global Medical Rare Disease therapeutic area.  Reporting to the Director, Medical Strategy & Execution (S&E) for Rare Disease, Neuropsychiatry, and Pipeline, this role will be part of a team of strategy and execution leads that collaborate to drive consistency across the Global Medical units and support Medical as a strategic cross-functional partner. The Senior Manager will provide project management support for all activities defined in the medical tactical plan, such as internal forums for knowledge sharing, operational execution of Advisory Boards and KME engagements. The incumbent will contribute to creating a framework and structure for monthly and quarterly reports to ensure cross-functional counter-parts are informed on Medical activities.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide project management support related to Medical Affairs activities defined in the medical tactical plan, including pre- and post-activity follow-thru (such as agenda setting, meeting summaries, defining accountable parties for next steps, etc). Execute the implementation and management of Smartsheet project management tool; drive team meetings to ensure sheet is kept up to date.
  • Serve as the point-of-contact for contractors/vendors used for Medical Affairs activities and processes (e.g. SOW, PO)
  • Track project spend against the PO, complete financial reports (accruals and forecasting) in a timely manner and providing overall budget discipline
  • Support the development of a dashboard and reports for VP and WMLT; track quarterly goals, contributing to the quarterly reports and helping the Medical Directors articulate clear, concise, impactful outcome measures.
  • Maintain document and knowledge repositories, websites, and business systems (e.g. SharePoint, Synapse), as needed. Expedite flow of work items and initiate follow-up when necessary.

Qualifications

Education/ Required Skills

  • 4-year college degree required, advanced degree in relevant field preferred
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the biopharma/tech, life sciences, consulting, or hospital setting
  • Experience in project management and/or finance required, including strategy and long-range planning experience; high attention to detail, strong facilitation skills and ability to execute in a timely manner.
  • Experience with Smartsheet or other collaborative work project management platforms is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and writing skills, energy and enthusiasm with a positive outlook required; possess strong emotional intelligence (interpersonal, communication, and relationship building skills) with a collaborative, team-oriented approach and solid work ethic.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and resourcefulness with a demonstrated ability to work in an accurate manner; superior attention to detail.
  • Be able to proactively anticipate and identify issues and propose solutions or take steps to resolve them.
  • Strong strategic and critical thinking skills with a demonstrated ability to understand how a collection of ideas are related. Embody strong business acumen and the ability to quickly learn and absorb new information.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently or within teams; high degree of innovation and enthusiasm for identifying, prioritizing, and executing on business process and system improvements.
  • Excellent command of computer skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, Power Point, etc.) Proficiency in SharePoint or ability to create and maintain a department intranet site preferred

Additional Information

The base salary range for this position is $140,000.00 - $187,000.00. Base salary offered is determined though an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
