Energy Efficiency Specialist - New Homes & New Construction

Resource Innovations is seeking a New Homes & New Construction Energy Efficiency Specialist to join our growing team in Salt Lake City, Utah. As a New Homes & New Construction Energy Efficiency Specialist with Resource Innovations, you will perform on-site and virtual inspections of newly constructed homes and buildings that participate in utility rebate energy efficiency programs.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Think big-picture and support the energy savings goals of the programs we implement to influence homebuilders, developers, and building owners to build more energy efficiently and participate in utility programs.
- Perform inspections and energy ratings on new homes submitted to the programs for rebates.
- Review construction documents to assess opportunities for improved efficiency
- Conduct blower door tests and duct blaster tests.
- Stay up to date on current energy code, best practices, and certifications.
- Continually build relationships and maintain trust with HERS raters and homebuilders
- Assist with program submissions; communicate effectively about program requirements and benefits.
- Forecast volumes of HERS rater program submissions and other participants
- Review program submissions in energy modelling software for accuracy and alignment with program requirements.
- Analyze project data, conduct research, and write reports.
- Become an expert on the energy efficiency programs and incentive offerings that we implement.
- Coordinate on-site and remote inspection activities.
- Provide excellent customer service to clients, raters, and builders.
- Complete assignments and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate’s, vocational, or bachelor’s degree in relevant field (i.e., construction management, engineering, HVAC trades, etc.) or equivalent work experience in the energy efficiency or construction industry.
- Current Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Rater certification, Building Performance Institute Quality Control Inspector certification, or equivalent experience and ability to obtain certification.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to read, interpret, and understand construction drawings.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Must be able to lift, push, and/or pull 50 pounds.
- Ability to use small tools and ladders.
- Familiarity with mechanical systems and heat pump technology is a plus.
- Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license, insurance, and a personal vehicle to conduct site visits and drop-ins throughout the territory in Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming.
