About the role

Bessemer Trust is currently seeking a talented Tax professional to join our Corporate Tax Department. The Corporate Tax Department is responsible for the tax compliance, tax accounting, tax planning and business unit tax advice for the firm and other closely held legal entities and investment vehicles. Specifically, this position will focus on the Family Office Investment Vehicles including private equity, venture capital, hedge funds and other diversifying investments. The Senior Corporate Tax Associate will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and review of partnership and corporate tax workpapers/returns, annual corporate tax provisions and transactional analysis for various investment management legal entities.

 

Core responsibilities

  • Preparation and review of investment partnership federal and state workpapers, quarterly estimates, tax distribution calculations, K-1s, and tax returns
  • Preparation and review of corporate blocker federal and state workpapers, quarterly estimates, tax returns, and tax provisions
  • Review of portfolio company and co-invest federal and state workpapers, estimated income, K-1s, and tax returns
  • Federal and state research to determine tax filing requirements and analyze the impact of changes in legislation
  • Transaction based tax planning and research
  • Tax compliance management for multiple legal entities in a time sensitive environment
  • Tax audit support, including preparing responses to federal and state IDRs and notices
  • Providing support to the accounting function with respect to tax related entries included within financial statement reporting
  • Special projects

 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on income tax experience in an investment management organization or public accounting firm
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in tax or accounting
  • CPA or EA Preferred (or actively pursuing)
  • Solid experience in partnership, corporate, and multi-state tax compliance, with exposure to the investment management industry. Strong analytical, organizational, and written/oral communication skills
  • Experience performing tax research and familiarity with tax research tools
  • Experience dealing with complex tax issues in a real-time environment
  • Experience managing multiple simultaneous projects
  • Effective managerial and time management skills, with a hands-on approach
  • Excellent work ethic with high level of accountability
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of Thomson Reuters GoSystem or ONESOURCE Income Tax a plus
