ABOUT THE ROLE
R&D team at Bright Machines are responsible for defining and implementing the systems that make Software Defined Manufacturing possible. Our intelligent & cloud connected automation solutions and software applications are deployed in factories to automate the assembly of critical components necessary for building modern AI-Factories and support manufacturing operations for some of the biggest names in the industry. Our integrated solution consists of both on-prem infrastructure like full network stack (with switches, routers, firewalling) and cloud-native software applications running on-prem and in the cloud to operate and monitor the robotic assembly lines.
You will work directly with R&D, Software Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to develop and operate a scalable & secure cloud Infrastructure on multiple cloud service providers & cloud native applications to deploy & operate mission-critical automation solutions.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will work directly with R&D, Software Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to develop and operate a scalable & secure cloud Infrastructure on multiple cloud service providers & cloud native applications to deploy & operate mission-critical automation solutions.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Lead the design and implementation of secure, scalable, and highly available cloud & hybrid infrastructure using infrastructure as code (IaC) and standard software toolsets
- Collaborate with application teams to define cloud architecture, strategy, and best practices
- Work closely with our talented Automation Core and Automation Application teams to design and implement business logic powering our cloud-first monitoring and performance applications
- Manage continuous improvements and feature implementations paired with our Product Managers and Product Owners
- Design and monitor our CI/CD, Monitoring, and Multi-cloud stacks
- Develop and maintain IaC templates using tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar.
- Ensure infrastructure is version-controlled, automated, and aligned with DevOps practices.
- Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment and updates.
- Ensure cloud infrastructure adheres to security best practices and compliance requirements (e.g. SOC 2 or ISO 27001).
- Implement and manage security controls, observability, monitoring, and logging to protect cloud resources.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits.
- Design and implement strategies for scalability, performance optimization, and cost management.
- Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements.
- Establish disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

WHAT WE WANT TO SEE
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 7+ years of experience working with hybrid on-prem and cloud applications, with at least 2 years in a technical lead role.
- Proven track-record of building & maintaining Cloud Infrastructure for mission critical SaaS applications / services.
- Expertise in public cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure, (and/or Google Cloud)
- Strong experience with infrastructure as code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).
- Proficiency in Docker, Kubernetes & containerization tools, both managed and self-hosted on-prem deployments.
- As both a cloud/hybrid architect and a software engineer, proficiency in a Java web applications is a must.
- Experience with DevOps scripting languages such as Bash, Python and/or Go.
- In-depth understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
- Architectural familiarity designing and implementing business intelligence applications that are deployment agnostic.
