JOB SUMMARY
This position is part of the acute care pharmacy department and functions as the pharmacy expert on the interdisciplinary Internal Medicine team. The IM specialist serves as a leader for the department in their specialty area of practice through organizing and executing appropriate departmental initiatives, assisting with quality initiatives and practice development in the IM service lines, and providing education and teaching for pharmacy colleagues, providers, patients, and trainees at all levels of practice. Day-to-day activities include rounding on the inpatient Internal Medicine service; evaluating, monitoring, and modifying drug therapy to optimize patient outcomes and safety; and precepting pharmacy residents and/or students. Non-direct patient care activities may include cost savings initiatives, committee involvement, and participation in departmental projects and practice advancement efforts.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
- Education
Both PGY1 and PGY2 from an ASHP-accredited residency program
PGY1 with 5 years of progressive clinical practice experience
Bachelor's Degree of Science degree or PharmD from ACPE accredited school of pharmacy or
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy
- Experience
5 years progressive clinical practice experience within specialty with PGY1 from an ASHP-accredited residency program or
8 years progressive clinical practice experience within specialty.
Computer skills, data entry experience
English (speaking, reading, writing). Good general health and stress coping ability. Moderate physical effort: prolonged standing/walking, occasional lifting/carrying (up to 25 lbs.), reaching, bending, crouching, etc.
- Licenses and Certifications
(BLS) BASIC LIFE SUPPORT certification, course accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) Upon Hire and
(TSBP) REG PHARMACY TECNICIAN Eligible for licensure by Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) is required Upon Hire and
(TSBP) REG PHARMACY TECNICIAN - Texas license with TSBP within 30 days of date of hire within 30 Days
(ACLS) ADV CARDIAC LIFE SUPPORT course accredited by the American Heat Association
