Position Overview: 

The Energy Category Manager is part of the North America Procurement Organization and is responsible for developing and implementing the strategic sourcing plan for the Energy Category.

This position supports a broad range of the company’s sourcing needs across multiple sites in the region, including compliance to Novelis’ Procurement Policies to delivering savings and value creation across the enterprise by working with Strategic Sourcing team and ensuring products and services are bought in accordance with the commodity strategies.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities: 

• Drives the development and execution of sourcing strategies by performing needs assessment, market and supplier analysis for assigned categories.
• Supports sourcing activities, RFQs, RFPs and negotiations with multiple suppliers to secure Natural Gas, Electricity, renewables and water supply (including PPAs, RECs, Natural Gas supply, Natural Gas Transportation, water supply, infrastructure agreements).
• Commercial support for the implementation of energy efficiency and renewables initiatives.
• Spend analysis and reporting, market intelligence, proposals and project evaluation.
• Leads internal approvals process.
• Collaborative work and continuous engagement with cross functional internal stakeholders such as Energy leads, Plant Controllers, Sustainability and Strategy team, Region procurement team.
• Supplier relationship management and origination.

 

Qualifications: 

• BS/BA Degree in Finance, Engineering or technical discipline
• 7+ years of experience in a procurement or commercial function in an electric utility, energy supplier, renewable energy developer or manufacturing company
• Extensive understanding of energy markets, cost structure, regulatory landscape. Hands on experience analyzing and interpreting energy cost/usage data, electric tariffs, and wholesale energy markets intelligence
• Strong analytical background as well as presentation skills to effectively summarize and report/drive discussion with key internal stakeholders
• Detail oriented, with experience managing multiple projects and changing priorities

• Exhibits strong sense of ownership, driving results
• Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint
