JOB SUMMARY

The Department of Biology at CSU San Bernardino seeks a tenure track Assistant Professor specializing in organismal plant biology, starting August 2026. Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to inclusive teaching, student success, and research with undergraduates and M.S. students. Teaching may include comparative plant morphology, plant physiology, local flora, plant biology and diversity, or plant development.

TYPICAL ACTIVITIES

Qualified candidates must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring a diverse student population and to working effectively with faculty, staff and students across a wide range of disciplines.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A Ph.D. (or equivalent) in biology or related field is required by time of appointment 
• Publication record in plant biology 
• Experimental expertise applicable to undergraduate and Master’s level research in organismal plant biology 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Postdoctoral experience 
• University-level instructional experience in plant biology 
• Potential for developing an externally funded research program 
• Experience mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students in research 

Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation is valued. Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level is preferred and should be noted in application.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
