Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a highly responsible position that will oversee the management of both programs HIV/AIDS Surveillance and Perinatal HIV Prevention. This position will also oversee the HIV/AIDS surveillance and epidemiology activities. This position will have the responsibilities for performing data analysis using HIV/AIDS, STD diseases using HIV/STD surveillance data, HIV Counseling and Testing data, and any other applicable data system by collecting, analyzing and interpreting information/data on HIV, and preparing innovative HIV/AIDS epidemiological statistical reports, summarization’s, tabular and graphic presentations for the preparation of grants, quality assurance, technical assistance visits.  This position will follow Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and information security regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of the client health information. Responsible for the supervision of staff Including appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave, having the authority for hiring, and taking disciplinary action or effectively recommending such actions.  Incumbent will follow Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and information security regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of the client health information. Incumbent will establish good rapport with staff and clients and provide positive customer service. Incumbent is expected to adhere to established Health Department policies and procedures.

 

Supervises direct reports including motivating, training, providing guidance and direction.   Develops expectations and meets with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews and discipline action if needed.  Maintains vacation and work schedules to ensure proper coverage and completes timesheets.  Ensures all staff complete required training and are offered additional training.    

 

Oversees and manages the entire operations of the HIV/AIDS Surveillance program. Provides leadership and consultation to all hospitals and HIV Private Providers as requested.

 

Oversees and manages the entire Perinatal HIV Prevention Program. Provides leadership and consultation to all OBGYN (Obstetricians and Gynecologists), birth centers, and hospitals. Ensures the Perinatal HIV Prevention program work closely with the PRIM clinic and the State HIV Medical Director to avoid babies to be born without HIV.

 

Ensures both HIV Surveillance and HIV Perinatal teams work in collaboration with the HIV/STD Program for better management and follow up on HIV/AIDS cases.

 

Develops and performs statistical analyses by SAS and geographic information system (GIS) regarding HIV/AIDS, STD diseases using HIV/STD surveillance data, HIV Counseling and Testing data, and any other applicable data system by collecting, analyzing and interpreting information/data on HIV and prepares/distributes report of findings to the HIV/STD Program and the community at large, including interpretation, projection of trends and appropriate recommendations and/or conclusions.

 

Collects and reports to the HIV Program Coordinator process and outcome data that are consistent with the strategies and activities associated with the Prevention grant. Participates in data collection activities associated with the Interim Progress Report and the Annual Progress Report that are due to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in a yearly basis. Provides assistance to STD/HIV program in the analysis of data as needed.
