Responsibilities
The Senior DevOps Engineer is essential in software development and infrastructure deployment. They lead the creation and support of pipelines that automate production systems and ensure consistent builds. They help development teams deploy services quickly and ensure code is properly tested. They also assist platform teams in building and deploying infrastructure without needing traditional admin access. This role sets technical standards, creates tools, and supports innovation in both on-premises and cloud environments.
Configuration Management
- Maintain central and distributed code repositories.
- Develop and maintain repository hierarchy and layout.
- Ensure appropriate role-based access to individual repositories.
- Work with development and infrastructure teams to migrate code and configurations to standard repositories.
- Build and maintain user documentation, FAQs, branching standards, and templates.
- Develop branching strategies and tailors them to pipeline requirements.
- Employ code scanning and quality check services for code and configurations at rest.
Pipeline Development
- Develop application CICD pipelines, frameworks, and templates that effectively test and deploy code and configurations into non-prod and prod environments. Work with individual development teams to develop individual pipelines.
- Develop infrastructure CICD pipelines, frameworks, and templates that effectively deploy configurations into non-prod and prod environments. Work with platform teams to develop individual pipelines.
- Tune pipelines to be more efficient, reliable, and scalable.
- Build and maintain user documentation, FAQs, standards, and templates.
- Ensure adherence to established CICD pipeline and configuration management patterns and standards.
- Mentor other DevOps engineers and developers.
Other Automation
- Work with teams to develop labor saving automation using Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools and scripting.
- Tune RPA automation to be more efficient, reliable, and scalable.
- Build and maintain user documentation, FAQs, standards, and templates.
Operations and Support
- Troubleshoot incidents, identify root cause, and implement preventative measures for pipeline and automation code and services.
- Help manage and maintain pipelines and other automation services in accordance with corporate, security, and compliance standards.
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional team triage and resolution during critical incidents.
- Develop and implement DevOps operational metrics, including repositories, pipelines, deployment frequency, code quality, utilization, and cost.
- Participate in prioritization and other DevOps work planning activities.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years progressive engineering experience developing/engineering solutions and participating in multiple large-scale engineering initiatives.
- 3+ years hands-on experience with DevOps/DevSecOps services and practices including CICD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, Bamboo, etc.), blue-green deployments, canary testing, code scanning, regression suite enablement, and infrastruct
