Description
The Night Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all manufacturing operations during the night shift to ensure production goals are met safely, efficiently, and in alignment with the daily production schedule. This role provides leadership and direction to night shift personnel, monitors productivity and attendance, and ensures that all team members stay on task and maintain high performance standards. The Supervisor will also assist in pulling and staging parts from the receiving area as needed to support production flow.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
- Supervise night shift production staff, ensuring all employees remain productive, focused, and compliant with company policies and safety standards.
- Assign and monitor work according to the production schedule and communicate priorities clearly to the team.
- Ensure that jobs are completed accurately, on time, and meet quality expectations.
- Pull, stage, and deliver materials or parts from the receiving area to support ongoing work orders.
- Maintain awareness of work progress throughout the shift and proactively address delays or inefficiencies.
- Conduct shift startup and shutdown activities, ensuring work areas remain organized and equipment is properly secured.
- Enforce company rules and attendance policies; escalate disciplinary or performance issues as needed.
- Communicate effectively with day shift leadership to provide updates on production status, issues, or material needs.
- Promote and maintain a clean, safe, and orderly work environment in accordance with company and OSHA standards.
- Complete required shift reports, timekeeping approvals, and handoffs.
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- A minimum of 3–5 years in production and/or fabrication related roles; at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to interpret and follow production schedules and work orders.
- Mechanically inclined with an understanding of manufacturing workflows and material handling.
- Self-motivated and able to enforce accountability with a fair but firm approach.
- Proficient in basic computer systems (e.g., timekeeping, production tracking, email).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move materials as needed.
- Willingness to work night shift and additional hours as production demands require.
