Position Objective: 

  • Responsible for the overall leadership/management, direction and coordination of the company product quality conformance activities.
  • Plans, directs, implements and monitors processes and procedures to meet quality customer requirements in the areas of production, supplier management and product development.
  • Initiates and monitors processes and quality improvement projects for continuous improvement.
  • Support other departments in quality technical methods and procedures.
  • Maintains and improves processes described in the documented business system.


Responsibilities:

  • Assures that policies, plans, programs and an organization structure are in place to meet the quality assurance requirements of customers. Revise these as needed to adapt to the changing business objectives and conditions.
  • Assures a process exists to collect information and uses that information to provide a measurement of product quality and drive corrections and improvements.
  • Provides leadership and management support to the function. Assigns individual goals and objectives that support company objectives. 
  • Recruits and trains direct reports as required.
  • Plans, implements and monitors processes and procedures for quality: especially in the areas of production, supplier quality, and new product development to ensure products meet specifications and customer expectations.  
  • Develops and implements new quality methods and tools to establish best in class quality business system.
  • Responds quickly and decisively to corrective action to requests both internally and externally generated.
  • Provides support to the new product development and sustaining engineering functions to meet product quality expected by customers and provide information to those groups that will be used to result in product designs that better meet customer requirements.
  • Maintains and improves processes described in the documented business system.  
  • Develops realistic cost center cost estimates for the development of budgets. Assures expenses stay within budgeted levels.
  • Performs other duties and assumes accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed objectives.


Relationship To Others: 

  • Direct management of exempt and non-exempt personnel
  • Engages in in-depth communication with various levels of the Organization functions.  
  • Has regular communication with a variety of domestic and offshore suppliers.  
  • Periodically communicates directly with customers.  
  • Much of the relationship with other functions is either seeking information, or suggesting problem resolution, requiring strong communication skills.


Dimensions of Position: 

  • Works with confidential information including company financials, salary data, sensitive product quality information and company strategic plans.


Qualifications:

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; and 8-10 years’ experience in in both high volume and low volume discreet manufacturing; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by the hiring manager and Human Resources. 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with fluid handling equipment is a plus.  
  • Familiarity with precision machining QA requirements.
  • Technical knowledge of paint application equipment.
