Job Description:

Associate Chief Clinical Informatics Officer – Acute (ACCIO) is a senior clinical informatics leader responsible for advancing the adoption, optimization, and innovation of health information technology across acute care settings. In a dyad partnership with the Associate Chief Health Informatics Officer (ACHIO), the ACCIO ensures that clinical workflows, digital tools, and informatics strategies are aligned to deliver safe, high-quality, and efficient care.



The ACCIO embodies servant leadership principles, fostering a culture of collaboration, empathy, and empowerment among clinical and health informaticists and leaders. By prioritizing the needs of the team and supporting their professional growth, the ACCIO ensures that team members are equipped to deliver innovative and effective informatics solutions.



The ACCIO serves as the voice of the clinician, particularly nurses, ancillary, and other frontline caregivers. This role leads efforts to improve caregiver experience with health IT, drive clinical engagement, and ensure that digital solutions support the realities and challenges of care delivery within a highly complex and integrated health system.



Reporting to the Chief Clinical Informatics Officer, the ACCIO collaborates with clinical programs, operational leaders, and DTS to co-lead the transformation of care delivery through technology. This position requires a visionary leader with deep clinical expertise, strong informatics acumen, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

The role is hybrid and will require travel to areas where Intermountain conducts business. Candidates who live in, or are willing to relocate to, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, Wyoming, or Montana and are within a reasonable commuting distance to an Intermountain Health care site are strongly preferred.​ Currently, we are not hiring remote workers in the following states: CA, CT, HI, IL, NY, RI, VT, and WA.  

Job Essentials 

Strategic Leadership:   

  • Co-develops and executes a clinical informatics strategy for acute care in partnership through dyad partnership with the ACHIO.   

  • Aligns informatics initiatives with Intermountain’s strategic goals and clinical priorities.   

  • Champions a culture of safety, innovation, and caregiver-centered design in all health IT initiatives.   

Clinical Engagement and Advocacy:   

  • Serves as the primary clinical advocate within DTS for acute care clinicians.   

  • Leads efforts to improve caregiver satisfaction with health IT systems, including Epic and other clinical platforms.   

  • Ensures that the voice of the caregiver is integrated into system design, implementation, and optimization.   

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:   

  • Builds strong partnerships with clinical leaders, operational teams, and DTS to co-design and implement effective digital solutions.   

  • Collaborates with vendors and external partners to ensure technology meets clinical needs.   

  • Participates in system-wide strategic planning and governance related to health IT.   

Program and Project Oversight:   

  • Oversees clinical informatics initiatives within acute care, ensuring timely and effective execution.   

  • Develops and tracks KPIs to measure the impact of informatics programs on safety, efficiency, and caregiver experience.   

  • Leads change management efforts to support adoption and sustained use of digital tools.   

Team Leadership and Development:   

  • Mentors and develops clinical informatics leaders and team members.
