Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Product Owner to join our team at Huron. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading the development and execution of our software products, ensuring alignment with product management’s and business stakeholder’s vision and goals. As a Product Owner, you will act as the primary liaison between the development team and product leadership, defining product requirements with Business Analyst, prioritizing features based on value hypothesis, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software solutions, and making sure everyone on the team is aligned on the reasoning behind that work—to help ensure the continuous delivery of value to our users.Qualifications
Responsibilities:
Product Roadmap: Define and communicate the near-term, 4-sprint product roadmap aligning to Product Manager led market research, customer feedback, and the business strategic goals. Strives and partners with BA’s to have a minimum of 3-4 sprints of work fully prepared and engineering ready at any given time.
Requirement Gathering and Prioritization: Gather and prioritize product requirements, creating and maintaining with integrity the product backlog, and ensuring alignment with stakeholders' needs and business objectives.
Relationship Management and Collaboration (80% Inward-facing): Foster strong collaboration, communication, and relationships with business analysts, developers, designers, and testers ensuring clear understanding of requirements and timely delivery of product features.
Relationship Management and Collaboration (20% Outward-facing): Engage with business stakeholders, clients, and industry events to understand market needs, gather feedback, and ensure requirements are effectively communicated to the development teams.
Feature Definition and Acceptance Criteria: Define clear and concise user stories, features, and acceptance criteria to guide development efforts and ensure the delivery of high-quality software. Serves as escalation point for business analysts on development questions around the reasoning or details behind features or user stories and is accessible to the development team for questions and clarifications.
Release Planning and Management: Plan and prioritize product releases, coordinating with development teams to ensure successful and timely release of features while maintaining product quality. Responsible for ensuring that user story acceptance criteria have been met each sprint, passes User-Acceptance Testing, and is in line with product roadmap.
Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks that may impact the product's success, proactively addressing issues that may arise during the development lifecycle. Evaluates progress with the Development Manager at each stage of development to ensure long-term project objectives remain on pace to final projected completion dates.
Stakeholder Communication: Regularly communicate near term product roadmap updates, progress, and timelines to product leadership, ensuring transparency and alignment with expectations.
Continuous Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives, leveraging feedback and insights to enhance product features, usability, and customer satisfaction as well as release planning and feature adoption. Drive continuous functional based improvements up to and including interactions with other departments.
