Ray Rate: $28/hr

Your Impact

This position supports Habitat GSF’s Home Preservation (HP) Department, which provides critical repairs to low-income homeowners. Externally, the Assistant provides general information about the Home Preservation program via phone calls, email, community canvassing, and tabling events. The Assistant maintains consistent, clear communication. Internally, the Assistant will communicate progress with the Senior HP and Outreach Specialist and VP of Homeownership & Community Engagement.  The Assistant will collect data that helps build the HP pipeline, schedule partnership meetings, and support with general administrative functions not related to lending.  In a role that requires on-going collaboration and high-level organization, the Assistant will be a proactive, communicative team player who can manage multiple tasks simultaneously and follow directives. This is a temporary, part-time role (10 hours/week for approximately 3 months)

Primary Responsibilities

Outreach & Administrative Support

• Perform follow up calls to interested clients
• Collect data on community-based organizations and faith-based organizations who may be interested in partnering with HGSF
• Support neighborhood canvassing efforts
• Attend tabling events and speak on behalf of HP
• Provide the Home Preservation program with streamlining and efficiency support
• Other responsibilities as needed

Minimum Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in client relations or customer service in a government, educational, business (such as hospitality), or nonprofit setting.
• Excellent organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to manage an unpredictable workflow.
• Awareness of and sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of populations served.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; must be able to communicate with care, clarity, and integrity.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs is necessary.
• Knowledge and familiarity of and/or interest in affordable housing and/or lending.
• Must be able to travel within HGSF’s tri-county service area (San Francisco, Marin, San Mateo)
• Must be able to pass background check(In accordance with state and county law: convictions do not necessarily rule out employment, it depends on the nature and severity of the conviction and is evaluated on a case by case basis, check is conducted on last 7 years only.)

Work Environment

This position is performed in both outdoor field settings and a professional office environment. Employees will spend a significant portion of their workday outdoors in assigned neighborhoods, public spaces, and community locations engaging with members of the public, as well as completing administrative tasks in an office setting.

Physical Demands

This role includes both sedentary office work and active outdoor fieldwork. While portions of the position are largely sedentary and performed in a professional office environment, some filing and administrative tasks are required. These duties may require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and occasionally stand, bend, or move between work areas as necessary.

Outdoor work requires walking and standing for extended p
