Job Description:

The Software Project Manager is responsible for managing the overall release framework of all deliverables that have a cross-department alignment need. Working with multiple departments and levels to ensure there is continuous awareness and alignment of releases. Also accountable for holding up the release framework that is used by all while continuously improving upon it with an Agile mindset.

Preferred location is Minneapolis, MN area (1 day/week visits to our office).

Daily Operations:

  • Facilitate readiness events such as sprint reviews, alignment sessions, and change management 

  • Continuously audit and keep project management tools up to date and following best practices 

  • Be the liaison and bridge between Product and other stakeholders across the company 

  • Manage complex external dependencies across departments 

  • Identify and remove impediments that impact the release quality 

  • Work closely with delivery managers and have a solid understanding of our CICD to support the releases 

  • Actively address risks, issues and dependencies where ownership exists outside the team 

  • Manage the team knowledge base and keep information current and relevant 

  • Help create the right environment for a team to work in 

 

 On a Continuous Basis:

  • Inspect and adapt our release framework to satisfy our customers early and continuously while balancing the needs internally to ready deliverables 

  • Facilitate large and medium-sized events sharing roadmaps and details with the greater organization and leadership 

  • Uphold the monthly release process including all the communication, needed signoffs, validation, messaging, and overall success 

  • Mentor and train team workstream leads and colleagues where applicable 

  • Maintain and administer project management toolset 

Communication & Reporting: 

  • Drive communication between Product teams and stakeholders 

  • Determine dependencies or issues 

  • Ensure alignment and eliminate redundancy 

  • Track key release metrics and bring awareness to them 

  • Be transparent and accurately represent the state of readiness with deliverables 

  • Ensure that internal stakeholders are prepared to support the new features/functionality being introduced 

  • Facilitate difficult discussions between teams and stakeholders as required 

  • Maintain and document org-wide processes, procedures and relevant assets as needed 

  

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree 
  • 2+ years of work experience preferably as a Scrum Master, Agile Project Manager, Release Manager or Delivery Manager 
  • Experience in both waterfall and agile methodology
  • Scrum Master certified

The Release manager needs to be able to: 

  • Prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic, changing environment 
  • Have strong attention to detail with a focus on accountability 
  • Make sound, considered decisions in emergency situations 
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships across the organization 
  • Influence individuals and ensure the completion of activities 
  • Be proactive and motivated, with a strong willingness to learn and take ownership

  • Account for unknown or flexible factors, dependencies, risk (and mitigation) and drive for realistic requirements and estimations
