Responsibilities:
- Assemble payload systems Avionics harnessing, click bond applications, separation systems according to written procedures, engineering drawings and models.
- Application of various types of RTV and Epoxy bonding.
- Setup new production work areas, including tooling and equipment
- Operate various material handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, flight vehicle and subassembly transportation equipment, truck-trailer combinations and other ground support equipment will be required
- Operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools including, but not limited to, torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser tracker, height gauges and optical measuring instruments
- Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency
- Clean as you go model is critical for all operations across Blue Origin.
- Assist with transition from development to production, including first articles
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct malfunctions by modification, rework, repair, and/or maintenance
- Work closely with a team, clean room operations, working from heights
- Ability to work off-shift, extended overtime, and weekends if/when necessary
- Other duties as required for fulfilling the mission and our vision
- Working 2nd shift hours (monday through friday: 2pm-11pm)
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- 3+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing, integration, or another relevant field
- Experience in at least one of the following is required:
- Instrumentation and electrical harness routing, general Aerospace/Launch vehicle assembly
- Interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions and test procedures
- Work collaboratively with teams of diverse skills, disciplines, and backgrounds
- Communicate clearly and appropriately, in writing and in person
- Basic computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
- Climb ladders/stairs and work in small, restricted areas
- Perform repetitive work, including lifting of items up to 50lbs
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
- Experience working on payloads, fairings, capsules
- ATF Certification for handling and/or installing explosives
- Experience in handling/moving large aerospace components
- Industry certification, trade school training and/or degree in related field
- Proven success as a “hands-on” technical leader
- Work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities
- Continuous improvement mindset. Our job is never complete; we are always refining and improving
- Intense curiosity for understanding the details of our business and how to optimize it
- Experience in assembling large tight-tolerance structures
- Experience in new product introduction
- Experience in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification
- Ability to lift heavy items up to 50lbs
- Structural FAB experience.
- Military experience
- Willingness to work overtime
