Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to lead preconstruction efforts for structural steel projects nationwide. This remote position is ideal for individuals with deep experience in steel estimating, strong technical aptitude, and a commitment to mentoring junior team members. The Senior Estimator plays a critical role in driving bid strategy, accuracy, and the long-term success of Sure Steel’s project pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and interpret architectural and structural plans, specifications, and contract documents.

• Perform accurate quantity takeoffs and develop detailed cost estimates using tools such as Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or ProEst.

• Prepare and submit comprehensive bid packages and proposals in accordance with project requirements.

• Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing; clarify scopes and negotiate terms.

• Lead value engineering exercises and cost analyses to optimize competitiveness.

• Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and executive leadership to ensure alignment between estimating and project execution.

• Mentor and support Estimator I and II team members by reviewing estimates and providing technical guidance.

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent experience.

• Minimum 5 years of experience estimating structural steel construction projects over $10 million.

• Advanced knowledge of industry-standard estimating tools and Microsoft Excel.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently in a remote setting.

• Must have a reliable internet connection and a dedicated home office setup.

• Must reside in the United States in a state where Sure Steel, Inc. is registered to conduct business.
