The position of Principal Connectivity Engineer is within our Infectious Disease Developed Markets business unit located at the Towne Centre site in San Diego, California, on site daily.  

The Opportunity

This role will be responsible for supporting connectivity and interoperability solutions for both on market projects and new platform development. This includes handling field investigations related to connectivity, leading the integration testing of our interconnected devices including IOT, mobile device, on premise server and cloud solutions. This position will also participate in new platform development providing interoperability design input to the R&D teams.

What You’ll Work On

  • Develop and own the device connectivity strategy supporting both current and future products.

  • Ability to lead teams of up to 12 (temporary, or third-party suppliers).

  • Build, and maintain the integration lab to perform integration testing and ensure releases properly interoperate with other devices on the network.

  • Evaluate current development processes and provide recommendations for improvements.

  • Understand and is aware of the quality consequences which may occur from the improper performance of the products.

  • Apply comprehensive knowledge of connectivity and device interoperability to the completion of complex assignments, using advanced knowledge of organization’s technologies and practices.

  • Identify key barriers/core problems and apply problem-solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoot and resolve complex problems, and make decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.

  • Work closely with product development team to establish product development goals related to connectivity while ensuring market compatibility.

  • Use strong technical abilities and able to suggest multiple solutions to problems.

  • Responsible for the development of complex technical project plans and schedules covering all engineering activities.

  • Responsible for exhibiting professional behavior with both internal/external business associates that reflects positively on the company and is consistent with the company’s policies and practices; build productive internal/external working relationships.

  • Carry out duties in compliance with established business policies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS | EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in delivering products for the Medical Device industry.

  • 8+ years of experience in systems and/or software development involving interoperability of connected devices.

  • Bachelor of Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent experience (MS preferred).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with Integration Frameworks such as (Mulesoft, Apache Camel or equivalent).

  • Experience with hospital EMR systems such as (Epic or Cerner).

  • Experience with communications: Wi-Fi, Ethernet, wirel
