FHCSD’s Program for All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) is designed to help our participants maintain a high standard of independent living. Our program provides a wide range of supportive services including outpatient care, meals catered to dietary needs, medical equipment, transportation, social services, and social activities. We are currently seeking a a Physical Rehabilitation Technician to provide care for our participants as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Instruct, motivate, safeguard, and assist patients in exercises and functional activities
• Assist and secure patients into or onto therapy equipment
• Transport patients using wheelchairs or providing standing support as needed
• Administer active and passive manual therapeutic exercises
• Utilize therapeutic massage, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, cryotherapy, and heat application
• Administer static and intermittent mechanical traction per provider instruction
• Compile data on patients’ completion of prescribed exercise, which is mandatory for continued participation
• Observe response to treatments and report findings to the physical therapy provider
• Clean, sterilize, and disinfect exam tables and equipment as instructed
• Maintain medical supply levels in treatment areas, and in storage
• Order supplies as directed
• Maintaining organization and cleanliness according to posted guidelines
• Provide administrative support functions
• Ensure all appropriate forms are provided and completed accurately
• Complete all required documentation accurately to department standards and ensure placement into the patient’s Electronic Health Record
• Confirm, request, and process referrals and authorizations
• Contact patients to schedule appointments and make reminder/recall notifications
• Regularly displays a proactive approach by listening to the patient, taking ownership of solutions, and accurately identifying participant needs through the involvement of leadership in resolving concerns
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a physical therapy aid or rehabilitation technician preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience in customer service required, preferably in a healthcare environment
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required
• Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred

Our History

FHCSD is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization rich in history and tradition. In 1911, the San Diego Industrial School was built on the site where our first clinic now stands. This school eventually transformed into a settlement house that provided Barrio Logan’s immigrant residents with dearly needed social services.
