About You and This Role


Dow is looking for a highly motivated, self-directed, experienced person to fill an API Inspector Lead position in the Louisiana Operations Technical Support Organization in Plaquemine, LA. You will leverage inspection expertise throughout the operating facilities on site. You will provide technical knowledge and skill in the application of work processes for mechanical integrity compliance and reliability. The successful candidate will provide technical support and coordination for the inspection of fixed equipment and piping in their assigned zone.
 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert for all inspection-related issues in assigned zone
  • Participate in Department and Plant meetings as appropriate.
  • Provide Inspection support to Engineering as required to support plants
  • Provide technical expertise to plant personnel when troubleshooting plant equipment Inspection related Issues
  • Following Inspection Procedures, Processes, and communicating opportunities for improvement
  • Lead small workgroup daily activities with safe operations and cost-effective manners
  • Work coordination of nested contract employees supporting the assigned zone to complete monthly mechanical integrity compliance tasks
  • Work within a Maintenance Work Process and help resolve issues involved in planning and scheduling inspections
  • Reviews compliance lookahead items and reviews pre-assessment inspection plans
  • Participation on all applicable Turnaround and Plant Assessment Teams (PAT) for assigned zone
  • Participates in defining and recommending repair path for deficiency resolution
  • Compile, review, and approve mechanical integrity system required documentation.
  • Must have the ability to communicate orally and in a written format to others (craftsmen, technicians, engineers, equipment owners, and upper management at Dow sites and vendor shops).  i.e. Technical Reports documenting equipment conditions
  • Willing to work overtime and call outs as necessary
  • Provide technical support and solution/troubleshooting for equipment and piping inspection and repair
  • Review all inspection reports to ensure they are complete and meet professional standards
  • Deploy inspection technologies and innovation to support inspection and repair activities in the areas

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or GED equivalent is required
  • Must have two or more of the following inspection certifications: (API 510, API 653, API 570, ASNT Level III)
  • A minimum of four years of experience in Inspection/Non-Destructive Testing
  • Must possess a TWIC card or be eligible to obtain a TWIC card. For information on TWIC eligibility requirements, please see: https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic (If unable to access link, copy and paste in your browser.)
  • Ability to work comfortably and safely at elevated heights. Candidates must be familiar with, or willing to undergo training in, the proper usage and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure safe movement and operations at heights
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process

Preferred Qualifications 

  • NDT Level II Radiography Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Penetrant Testing, Visual Testing, Ultrasonic Testing or Certified Welding Inspector CWI 
  • Seven or more years of experience in Inspection/Non-Destructive Testing

Preferred Skills

  • Have basic computer/workstation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Knowledgeable in Electronic Maintenance Manag
