A Day in the Life

Software Engineer II position supporting Medtronic’s Neuromodulation and Pelvic Health Operating Units. This person will support research & technology development projects with a focus on investigational research systems that will inform the next generation of therapies. Additionally, some projects may require focused software solutions for rapid translation to the product development pipeline. The successful candidate will be able to design, implement, and test software for novel research systems and specific technology risk burndown activities. The candidate must have the ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve project and business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Critical contributor to development of novel, investigational research systems for human clinical use

  • Design, develop, and test software libraries and applications.

  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.

  • Prototype and evaluate new software solutions to enhance device functionality and performance

  • Prepare and maintain documentation required for regulatory submissions and audits

  • Perform code reviews and participate in peer reviews to maintain code quality standards

Must Have:

  • Baccalaureate degree in a technically related field 

  • Minimum of 2 or more years work experience, or advanced degree

Candidates must be in MN, USA.

Nice to Have (these are prioritized)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related technical field

  • Experience developing software for mobile operating systems

  • Experience developing and/or using CI/CD build processes

  • Experience interfacing with embedded processors/systems, microcontrollers, and development tools

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

  • Outstanding communication skills to collaborate within and across engineering and research project teams

  • Experience with object-oriented software development (e.g., C#, Java)

  • Strong knowledge of software design, development, and debug practices

  • 4 years of relevant experience

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$95,200.00 - $142,800.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
