Background Information:Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Linux Systems Developer to be based in our Fall River, MA office. Overview: Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex defense systems, is currently seeking a Linux Systems Developer who is passionate about and dedicated to working with Linux. We want someone for whom Linux is not just an operating system; it is a passion and a hobby. This role is for those who thrive on solving complex problems, have strong debugging skills, and a firm grasp of cybersecurity mechanisms. The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in Linux systems and VMware virtualization technologies. This includes a comprehensive understanding of the Linux boot process, system initialization, kernel operations, and the ability to configure and manage bootloaders and kernel modules. The role demands proficiency in customizing system images and kernels, as well as diagnosing and debugging issues across the full stack of a running Linux OS. All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance. Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and maintain software applications on Linux platforms.
- Strong debugging skills to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues.
- Implement and manage virtualization technologies with a deep understanding of various hypervisors.
- Design and maintain virtual networking architectures.
- Ensure robust cybersecurity measures are integrated into all systems and applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the system development lifecycle.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a relevant field of Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a relevant field
- Experience with physical server install/administration.
- Experience managing/configuring Server-based or Workstation-based Operating Systems.
- Virtualization Infrastructure Experience with VMware or similar tools.
- Networking experience – TCP/IP, DNS, switching, routing, VLANs, firewalls.
- Demonstrated ability to shift from one project to another in an agile work environment.
- Ability to communicate technical approaches and details within small project teams.
- Ability to capture technical approaches, designs, block diagrams, algorithms, and implementations in written and graphical form.
- Experience troubleshooting issues of both a software and/or a hardware nature.
- Enterprise system engineering/administrator expertise with at least one operating system.
- Experience configuring/managing server systems.
- Experience with shell scripting.
- Experience with Cisco Switching is a plus.
- Experience with Ansible and Python is a plus.
- VMWare, Red Hat, and/or Cisco certifications highly encouraged.
- Security+ or equivalent IAT Level II certification highly encouraged.
- Familiarity with DISA STIG or other Risk Management Framework is highly encouraged.
- Ability to create and employ requirements and specifications during development.
- Desire to stay current with industry trends and best practices.
- Excellence in technical oral and written communication with peers and non-technical cohorts.
- Be capable of working independently but thrive in a team environment.
- Capable of finding creative solutions to difficult problems.
- Solid analytical abilities, coupled with a strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.
