Position Summary
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer supports Carrier’s water-cooled applied chiller production operations by optimizing manufacturing processes, improving product quality, and ensuring efficient, safe, and reliable production performance. This role is hands-on and requires a seasoned professional who can work independently to troubleshoot mechanical issues, implement sequence of operations, and sustain world-class manufacturing standards. As a key technical lead for the second shift, you will play a vital role in maintaining throughput, reducing downtime, and driving continuous improvement across the plant.
Key Responsibilities
Process Design & Optimization: Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes and component layouts to enhance manufacturability and ensure full utilization of equipment.
Technical Troubleshooting: Respond urgently to unplanned events and mechanical issues on the production floor, diagnosing and solving complex problems to minimize downtime.
Workflow & Layout: Design and plan the layout of assembly and materials handling operations; coordinate operations sequencing to optimize efficiency and quality.
Tooling & Documentation: Design and develop tooling and fixtures; maintain accurate process documentation, including tool drawings, work instructions, and quality plans.
Product Support: Support existing product line design activities and operational modifications to ensure current and future business needs are met.
Continuous Improvement: Lead or participate in Lean Six Sigma initiatives, Kaizen events, and root-cause analysis to reduce waste and cost.
Technical Leadership: Provide guidance and training to second-shift production employees and lower-level staff to ensure consistent execution of standard work.
Compliance: Ensure all processes comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, including OSHA and Carrier EHS policies.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or any Engineering field with 5+ years of manufacturing engineering experience OR an advanced degree with 3+ years of manufacturing engineering experience
2+ years of troubleshooting skills in mechanical systems and practical knowledge of ASME standards and MIG welding.
